A Hunger Games Dream
* please pardon my horrible grammar in which I switch from past and present tense nearly every other sentence, I typed this up quickly while eating breakfast *
So last night I had a vivid dream – which I love!
Basically, I lived in Panem and was drawn with twelve other people to represent district twelve in a Quarter Quell, except that all twelve of us (minus me) were from the merchant part of the district this time and half of the twelve were my friends. (I was from the better part of the Seam.)
The way they treated the tributes were changed in my dream. They were allowed to stay for about a week in their own district and plan with their mentor, except they had to live in the dorm for the tributes.
We were sitting around a table and talking with our mentor, and we were so scared and confused. He explained to us that the Quarter Quell this year would work like this: Two boy and girl tributes from each district would be randomly put into a two district-themed arena for each district. And the districts that the arena is themed for would basically be given a large advantage to the person from that district. After there is one victor in the each district-themed arena, the arena is combined and the remaining six fight to the death.
So we all ask which district we’ve been assigned to, and our mentor says to each person which one he is going to tackle. He stops at me and says that I’ll be going into the district 1 and 2 arena along with some random kid.
Basically, my brain started sending me pictures of various brutal ways I could die. Our mentor says good luck, and we separate.
I start worrying about my parents and siblings, and I go out to try to find food for them. I don’t dare wonder out to hunt and gather food, so I ultimately decide to steal some bread from the mayor’s house which looked like a Chinese palace.
So, I go up there, and the place is completely empty. I take the bread and start jumping on the roof to get away, but I hear yelling and the mayor’s wife starts running after me, saying that it’s a long way out since their house is so large. She starts running up the slope by the side of the house that the house is built against.
I reached the top of the slope (the roof was even with it) right when she did, and I’m surprised. I start running for my life (stealing results in the death penalty), and I basically realize I’m out of district bounds and that’s why I’m not being chased after anymore – but now I have to get back in, so I start running and I jump over the electric wire fence that’s off and continue running. Along the way, I run past the SNSD girls (random I know) who are part of the merchant district and at the entrance to the dorms I’m met with all of my friends, and they’re telling me good luck and to make sure I come back.
I basically start crying and blubbering that only one person comes out alive. Then, I realize I’m still clutching the bread I stole, and I have to go give it to my parents and I push away from our group of sadness and try to find them, but I then realize that they’re in our group of sadness and I walk up to them and hand them the bread. Then, I start crying more heavily and saying things like, you have to make sure you guys get enough food. Stay in school, etc.
Then, my tribute friends and the rest of us are summoned to another strategy session – which runs late. If we don’t arrive to the arena on time through “The Stairwell” (yes it’s a stairwell that leads to the launching room), we get killed, so I’m jostling through a crowd of people trying to get to the arena, and the time is running out.
Then, out of the corner of my eye, I see someone steal some of my clothes. I start yelling at them, which stops my progress, but then one of my tribute friends says to me that it’s normal in the lowest of the Seam. I feel relieved that my family isn’t as bad off as that person, and I start crying tears of joy and start blindly following people down The Stairwell which is when I trip and my dream ends.
SONGS
This is a post about songs that remind me of certain periods of my life starting from 6th grade when I actually started to listen to music. (:
6th Grade: Miss Papaya’s Cinderella, I remember singing along to it as I blew dry my hair four days every week after swim team practice.
7th Grade: Taylor Swift’s Love Story, Hmm nothing much to say.
8th Grade: Owl City’s Fireflies and Wonder Girl’s Nobody, I remember listening to Fireflies so much on the radio. It was everywhere, and I loved it! And then there was the Wonder Girls, who I was a new fan of, opening for the Jonas Brothers with Nobody so I sang that for the longest time.
9th Grade (Christmas time): SISTAR’s How Dare You was stuck in my mind for the longest time during winter finals!
9th Grade (2nd Semester): Teen Top’s Supa Luv, This song was stuck in my mind right after How Dare You wore off.
Summer 2011: SNSD’s Mr. Taxi, It was released and then I was in Taiwan where the song was blasted everywhere at the night market and at Ximending and Danshui! Whenever I hear the song I’m reminded of Taiwan 2011!
10th grade (1st Semester): SNSD’s The Boys, I initially didn’t like the song, but it grew on me and was stuck in my mind for winter finals. Oh, and also S.H.E’s SHERO – listened to that a lot while doing homework.
Now: 4minute’s Volume Up, SISTAR’s Alone, Girl’s Day’s Oh! My God, NU’EST’s Face // 4minute, SISTAR, and Girl’s Day had their comebacks and their songs grew on me a lot. Girl’s Day (as I mentioned before) is on replay right now while I’m doing homework along with NU’EST’s Face which was shown to me by a girl at Chinese school.

I’ve kind of been neglecting this place for the past month. Hm.
Well, in the past month I had a piano festival, piano solo contest, dance recital, violin recital, and a youth orchestra concert. Yay!
I also registered for classes at the community college for over the summer.
And this song is stuck in my mind – so catchy!
April Perfection
I need to make myself realize that it’s not possible to be perfect, and that everyone makes mistakes. Plus, it’s just really odd when your choir conductor who only sees you for 3 hours every week can tell that you are a perfectionist just from looking at me sing.
By the way, this is my first post in April, and it’s already the 15th.
I’m so not looking forward to this week. From Monday-Thursday I’m staying behind until at least 5pm.
I can’t wait until summer vacation. But first I have a ton of stuff coming up in the next to weeks. On 4/21, I have a piano festival. On 4/28, I have a piano competition, dress rehearsal and dance recital, and violin recital dress rehearsal. Then after May, I have to deal with end-of-course exams and finals and projects which teachers are bound to assign.
On a happy note though, I finished all my homework for tomorrow and Tuesday and am currently working on the stuff for Thursday – which means less pain on Wednesday night! (:

I woke up still tired despite the fact that I actually got in two more hours than the night before of sleep. I woke up and practiced the piano before going to school. In computer science, I took a test and then spent the rest of the time on Wikipedia looking up TVB dramas and actors and other random things because I didn’t want to start on my labs for the next chapter. Plus, the teacher hadn’t gone over the chapter yet.
In Spanish, I listened to a couple more Leyenda projects. Then, I took notes for art vocabulary for our next unit. After Spanish, I went and tutored people for Biology during Ranger Time. The group this week was a lot more attentive and knew a lot more than the group last week. Last week we had four stations: cellular respiration and photosynthesis, macromolecules, modeling active transport, and hyper/hypo/isotonic solutions.
This week we had to make some adjustments, and we ended up with: cellular respiration, photosynthesis, macromolecules and hyper/hypo/isotonic solutions, and modeling active transport. Although I was the person who had to teach more stuff this week, I think I handled it well. It threw me off though when I actually got more done with my first group than with my other three groups. I had thought I had picked up speed with the other three groups but apparently not!
At lunch today, the highlight was having one of the guys putting a stick of celery into his fizzy grape drink mix’d drink. It was turning purple when he fished it out and ate it. Disgusting. In world history, I took a test which I did alright on. In English, I found out that my grade isn’t absolutely horrendous despite the fact that I failed a quiz over Animal Farm on Monday. (Speaking of which I need to go correct tomorrow morning.)
After school, my friends and I went to the extra credit opportunity from 4-6 for WHAP. We had a friend in 8th period, so she saved us all seats which was really awesome of her. Another friend also brought four bars of chocolate and shared them with us. Yum! It really felt like a large sleepover (as one of my other friends remarked) because it was crowded with people on the floors. She also commented that it was probably a fire hazard.
After extra credit, I went home and ate dinner (steamed egg and rice)! Then, I went and did my homework, which I will resume doing now.

I woke up extremely tired this morning due to the fact that I had stayed up until 2 AM for two days in a row working on homework. Plus, my body decided to make me develop allergies this year, so I have been feeling horrible with itchy eyes and a runny nose. It’s really disturbing to see thin films of green dust on the trash cans and cars in the streets. (I just sneezed twice after typing that.)
After practicing the piano for 30 minutes, trying to memorize my three pieces, I went to school and took a test in Chemistry which I felt kind of iffy about. As I said before, I miss reaction stoichiometry. These gas laws aren’t my friends. After that, I made a foldable over the different types of mixtures. It was in nice pastel colors that reminded me of Easter and spring.
In CommApps, we had a guest speaker who spoke to us about the Anti-Defamation League, and we spent the whole class arguing about the purpose of such a league if hate will never ever stop. It was quite boring in my opinion. The highlight though was getting to mess around with pipe cleaners in one of the two activities. We were supposed to make three symbols that symbolized who we were. I made a very pretty heart out of a red one. The yellow music note wasn’t bad. However, I couldn’t figure out how to make a sun, so I just made it a circle.
We also found out that the class would be going out to the ropes course next class period. I will not be doing any of the activities because it is not required, but we are required and are going to be graded on being supportive of our classmates. My teacher said that if you have severe allergies, you could stay in, but I don’t think my allergies count as severe, so I guess I’ll just have to deal with it.
In French, we worked more on “si” sentences. I missed half of the questions on my homework but partly because I was doing it in the middle of the night after doing my trig homework. The teacher gave us a take home test over the sentences that is due on Thursday. At lunch, I found out that I had left my lunch in one of my classes but I didn’t want to go check the classrooms because it would be weird if they actually weren’t in there. So, I bought my lunch. When I sat down at the table my friends were sitting at today (different than usual because all the freshmen were in B lunch due to STAAR testing), I found out that one of my friends actually saw it in the chemistry classroom, so I ate my bought lunch then went to retrieve my packed lunch and ate that too because I was hungry.
PreCal was boring. We took notes and did an activity for extra credit points that mostly depended on luck. Too bad I am not lucky at all, so I got no extra credit points. Boo. After school, I went and retrieved papers for my notebook check tomorrow in WHAP and to correct my Remember When Quiz #4 which was writing a mini-essay comparing Hinduism and Buddhism. Let’s just say I didn’t recall a lot. It always happens in that class that I remember nothing about the topic when I’m supposed to be writing about it, and I remember everything about it when the assignment isn’t about the topic. Hmph.
An hour later, I went to violin lesson where I got yelled at for not bringing my chair test material earlier to my teacher to mark up. I spent nearly the whole 45 minutes working on the chair test material. I was knocked out in the car on the ride back home. I had potato, carrot, and melon soup and rice for dinner.
Now I have to fix up my world history binder for the check tomorrow during class during the test which I will hopefully make a good grade on!
Math & TVB Drama
When Mommy turned on my room’s lights this morning at 6:30 I seriously thought that I had accidentally traveled back in time to yesterday again. After laying in bed for five minutes though, I finally realized that I was waking up early to go to UIL math competitions! Hooray.
I placed seventh in number sense (mental math). Other than that, my school’s team and I weren’t that awesome at all. After two of the three competitions I was signed up for was finished, I went home. Then, Mommy drove my little sister and me to the craft bazaar at my school. We walked around once and then spent the rest of the time at the Tupperware booth. After a lunch of chicken congee, Daddy drove me back to the rich kids’ school of our school district that was hosting the UIL district competitions. At 2:30 I took the UIL Mathematics test. In general, the tests at this district meet was a lot easier than the ones at the invitational meets in January and February.
The school where the UIL district competitions were held is huge. You could get lost in its parking lots if there weren’t fancy signs that gave you directions. The school’s academic teams are pretty good too. In science, two individuals placed, and their team got 2nd overall. Their school > my school.
When I arrived home at 4 after the end of the competition, I practiced the violin, took a shower, and then ate dinner. I started reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, but I stopped to watch three new episodes of Queens of Diamonds and Hearts during which there was a short one second power outage that killed my internet connection.
Today started off quite normally. I practiced the violin for a little less than half an hour before going to school.
In Computer Science, I spent the bulk of the time reading again since I had finished the labs before spring break that were due this week. I finished Animal Farm, and I liked the book! (: In Spanish, I worked on writing the legend for the project with my friend. We had way too much fun and laughed a lot.
Lunch was weird today. The guys I sit with spent about 15 minutes debating over the color of one guys’ drink mix. The other half of lunch – one of the guys went to talk to some other friends down the table. Another one of the guys thought it would be funny to turtle the guy who’d left’s backpack. Meanwhile, my female friend started laughing hysterically along with the other guy’s partner in crime. The guy who’d left looked over many times but not once did he notice what was happening until the deed was finished. It was hilarious. (:
In world history, we took notes over revolutions. In English, we took notes over the Russian Revolution. After school, I went to register for ACC classes. In the evening after eating dinner, I went to my little brother’s band concert. It was good except the last piece was so long and I was so tired so I ended up yawning a lot during that piece.
I’m off to do my homework now! I love A days because I don’t get assigned as much and as painful homework as B days.
Thunder & Popcorn
By the way, I just posted up the one blog post I made over spring break that somehow never made it onto the blog!
So. Last night, I woke up at least four times due to lightning and thunder and rain, but I guess I was just really tired because I actually slept through the thunderstorm. (Usually I wake up due to the thunder and stay awake for the duration of the storm because I can’t fall asleep.)
Today was boring. I spent most of my time in computer science reading my book. In Spanish, I had a grammar test which I hopefully got a 100 on! During lunch, two of my friends decided that it would be absolutely hilarious if they copied my every move while I was eating my bag of grapes. It was extremely awkward. In world history, I had to write an essay about Paul’s changes and continuities in All Quiet On The Western Front. I also had to take a quiz over that too. Hooray for making up answers. In English, we spent the whole class prepping ourselves for Animal Farm with background information and everything.
After school, there was a Language Club meeting. We watched a movie, Bella – which in all honesty was actually not that exciting. I just looked it up on wikipedia and spoiled the ending for myself. There are no twists or anything and seems just overall boring. I guess I’ll just gorge myself on cheese-flavored popcorn, Reese’s peanut butter cups, and Sprite next time when we watch the second half.
Now to go work on my chemistry homework. I don’t really like this unit (states of matter and gas laws) as much as the one from before (reaction stoichiometry).
